Conway City Council will consider an ordinance to waive competitive bids for the purchase of holiday decor for Rogers Plaza.
The ordinance states the city would utilize Getlit, of Springdale, to purchase an artificial Christmas tree and commercial-grade decor worth up to $130,000 if it is passed. The funds will be provided from the Parks A&P monies.
Also at the meeting, the aldermen will consider an ordinance accepting grant proceeds for the Historic District Commission. The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program has awarded a grant of $8,700 to the City of Conway’s Historic District Commission, according to the ordinance. The money will provide funding for the staff and consultation fees for a National Register of Historic Places Survey to possibly expand the Asa P. Robinson Historic District.
Council will also review the request from Frank Shaw to rezone 2015 Cross Street from single-family residential to historic residential. Planning commission approved the request at their meeting Aug. 19 and sent it to council for a finalizing vote.
The city council meeting will be at 6:30 Tuesday evening at the Judge Russell L. “Jack” Roberts District Court Building at 810 Parkway Street. There will be a committee meeting at 5:30 p.m. to discuss Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board recommendations.
