During an award luncheon at the 42nd annual conference of the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media, Cathy Toney received the Herb Lawrence Leadership Service Award.
Arkansas Association of Instructional Media (AAIM) met in Rogers on April 21–23, 2013. This is a group of professional educators dedicated to the improvement of education through the use of technology and media.
Toney is currently the media specialist at Carolyn Lewis Elementary in Conway. This summer she worked on a committee aligning Library Media Frameworks to Common Core Standards. She was selected as Sallie Cone Teacher of the Year in 2006-2007.
Toney has a record to prove she is a worthy candidate for the Herb Lawrence Leadership award. She has been very involved in AAIM for the last seven years where there is no job too big. She organized and led the AAIM organization flawlessly as the Conference Chair in 2012. Her leadership included clear and precise directions. She shared her knowledge with others including the Awards committee which she had served as Chair in previous years. When questions would arise, she addressed the solutions in prompt and direct ways. Following the Conference Chair, she became the President of AAIM.
The Arkansas Association of Instructional Media is a group of professional educators dedicated to the improvement of education through the use of technology and media. The group hosts a professional development conference each spring providing educators with workshops specific to instructional technology, media usage, and current innovations in library media.
