Faulkner County Judge Allen Dodson announced Tom Anderson as the new county administrator Friday morning.
Anderson is a retired colonel from the Air National Guard, leading the 188th Fighter Wing in Fort Smith, before his retirement.
Under his leadership, the 188th Fighter Wing was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. His leadership also brought the unit through a conversion from F-16s to A-10s, which culminated in a highly successful deployment to Afghanistan.
“He is a very effective leader, clearly, and we are excited about his ability to lead people and to lead our organization in projects large and small,” Dodson said. “He’s demonstrated the ability to do that throughout his career in the Air National Guard.”
Anderson is a native of El Paso, Ark. and has lived in Conway since 1998. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. In 1995, he earned his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law. He was also a member of the Law Journal and was admitted to the Arkansas Bar that same year.
Anderson is set to officially start his new position Aug. 19.
