Larry Jones to be featured in 'Under the Dome' recital

Larry Jones, assistant professor of trumpet and jazz at the University of Central Arkansas, will be featured in the next “Under the Dome” recital at 3 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of Conway First United Methodist Church.

Joining Jones on the program will be Betty Cohen on organ and piano, Paul Dickinson on piano, Brent Shire on horn and Josh Bledsoe on trombone.

The program will include “Abblassen” by Gottfried Reiche; “Voluntary” by John Stanley; “Rondeau and Fanfare” by Jean Joseph Mouret; “Voluntary” by Maurice Greene; “Sonata for Horn, Trumpet and Trombone” by Francis Poulenc; “Trumpet Involuntary” by Paul Dickinson; “Concertino” by Sachse; and “A Trumpeters Lullaby” by Leroy Anderson.

Jones is the conductor of the Conway Jazz Orchestra and a member of the Arkansas and Conway Symphony orchestras. Equally at home in both classical and jazz worlds, Jones has become a highly sought-after freelance artist, soloist and clinician.

He is a founding member of Pinnacle Brass Quintet, the quintet in residence at UCA. In addition to local performances, Pinnacle Brass has toured France, Austria and China.

In May 2009, Jones was a soloist at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Harrisburg, Pa. His credits include major symphony orchestras, touring Broadway productions, professional chamber ensembles, and national television commercials.

A few of the individual stars he has performed with include Kenny Rogers, Olivia Newton-John, Kenny Loggins, Doc Severinson, Johnny Mathis, Jerry Lewis, Robert Goulet, Wayne Newton, LeAnn Rimes, the Temptations and the Four Tops.

The recital is free and open to the public.
