The family of William McGary has been invited to Washington D.C. in 2014 to see the fallen police offier’s name etched onto the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial at the nation’s capitol. The visit is being taken care of by the Barwick/Newton Fund, who assists families of police officers who have died in the line of duty.

McGary was killed earlier this year while directing traffic during an accident.

The family will attend during National Law Enforcement Memorial Week. The fund was created by two families of fallen officers who saw the need to help families with the financial hardship.

The family was informed Wednesday at the Conway Police Department. The event will take place in May 2014.
