Log Cabin Democrat media partners KATV recently received complaints from anonymous teachers at Mayflower schools regarding a school poster that featured students holding guns.

According to a KATV report:

Mayflower faculty members are removing a controversial poster with the high school's baseball schedule that featured teenage students holding guns.

Local teachers approached Channel 7 about the schedule and when we took their concerns to Superintendent John Gray he initially planned to allow the poster to continue to hang in district buildings.

But around 3 o'clock he changed his mind and now says it's become a distraction.

The poster features five seniors holding guns--and one even has what appears to be a cigar dangling from his mouth--although district administrators tell us it's actually a black marker.  The schedule was meant as a spoof of the classic TV show, "The A Team."

There is some debate about how many posters were actually hanging up in district buildings.  Either way they are all set to come down now."

Hmm

I'd be interested to know who were listed as the sponsors. Perhaps the black market drug/gun house at #1 Carter Loop?

"The schedule was meant as a spoof of the classic TV show, "The A Team.""

I'd call that a pretty pathetic spoof. Five guys when the A-Team was comprised of four. Oh, and which one is supposed to be Mr. T.?

I went to Mayflower School

I went to Mayflower School from head start on through. When I was in school there in the parking lot most of the trucks had our hunting rifles hanging in the back windows.I think everybody is getting carried away with all the talk of guns being bad.I have hunted or fished all my life and I have never picked up a bad gun.I was taught to respect all guns and that they were to feed our family and also to protect our family.I have seen bad people with guns and that's what makes me know that if kids are not taught anything about guns they will more than likely at some point be in an accident with one because they are kids and kids will be kids.At my home kids are taught that all guns are to be treated like they all loaded and that no child touches a gun without one of their parents right there. The way I see it there has to be respect for guns and someone needs to be around who is not afraid.
Leave our kids alone and let them be kids.

in a follow up message

It was also decided that Mayflower basketball would no longer be allowed to use the "Run and Gun" type offense, can no longer "Shoot" the ball but instead must fling the ball towards the hoop in a totally passive and non-threatening manner.
The weightlifting team may no longer refer to their biceps as "guns".
Ink pens may not be refilled if they use the "Cartridge" type refills.
Teachers must check all Powerpoint presentations to make sure they do not have "Bullets" for emphasis.
Females may no longer wear bras in case they are referred to outloud as "Hooter Holsters" and cause panic in the hallways.
The uppercase "L" will be removed because when viewed on its side it resembles a poptart chewed into the shape of a pistol.
Also funeral arraingements have been announced for services to memorialize the passing of "Common sense" as we knew it.

I'm pro gun....

But poster was likely inappropriate. I would have suggested if it was to be a spoof of the A TEAM, them dress them up like the A Team characters and use baseball bats instead of guns.
I think the anti-gun issue has been blown way out of proportion lately, but no since in giving more ammo (excuse the pun) the anti-gun group.

"I would have suggested if it was to be a spoof of the A TEAM, them dress them up like the A Team characters and use baseball bats instead of guns."

That is a much better idea.
