A number of alcohol-related incidents over the weekend left Conway police officers busy and landed several suspects in jail.

Police responded to a call at McDonald’s on East Oak Street about a person passed out inside of their vehicle. When police arrived at the scene, they observed the driver of the car slumped over into the passenger seat.

Police reported they had to wake the driver, identified as Jared Guthrie, 21, of Conway, in order to get a response. They also noted the odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle and Guthrie’s “dilated” pupils.

When police commanded Guthrie to exit the vehicle, he told them he needed to “park his car” first.

Guthrie’s balance was reportedly unsteady as he exited the vehicle. Inside of the car, police discovered a near-empty bottle of vodka in the passenger side floorboard. A blood alcohol content test returned a reading of 0.19.

Guthrie was transported to jail and cited for driving while intoxicated.

An on-patrol officer in the area of Robins and Harkrider Streets reported observing a woman vomiting from the passenger side of a car parked outside of The Fish House Restaurant around 2:40 a.m. Saturday.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ashley Short, 27, of Houston, told officers she had pulled the car over so the passenger could vomit after drinking too much at the VFW.

According to reports, Short’s shirt was ripped, her eyes were bloodshot and she had a “strong odor of intoxicants” coming from her person.

Short told police she had been involved at a fight at the VFW, and that she and the passenger had been taking shots of Patron prior to the altercation.

Short’s attempts at field sobriety tests were reportedly unsuccessful, and three blood alcohol content tests returned insufficient samples.

Short was taken into custody and transported to jail, where she was cited for driving while intoxicated.

Police responding to a call about an intoxicated person around 4 a.m. Saturday found a woman passed out on the porch of a residence at Robins Street.

Officers woke the woman, identified as Holly Barnard, 33, of Conway, asking her if she lived at the residence. When the woman responded that she did live at the home, the owner of the home reportedly stuck her head out of the front door and stated she had “no clue” who the woman was.

Barnard was transported to Faulkner County jail, where she was cited for public intoxication.

Around 4 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to Davis Street, where callers reported an unknown person had walked into their home and passed out on their sofa.

A woman at the residence said she and her boyfriend had been sleeping but were woken when someone walked into their bathroom. When the couple got out of bed to investigate sounds of snoring coming from the living room, they discovered a man, later identified as Clint Bailey, 26, of Conway, asleep on the couch.

Concerned for their safety, the pair then exited the home and called 911.

Police attempted to wake Bailey several times before he came to. When asked where he believed he was, Bailey couldn’t give a coherent answer.

Bailey was escorted outside of the home, where he admitted to officers that he had been drinking on Shasta Street, but he had no idea how he ended up in the caller’s home.

Bailey was placed under arrest for public intoxication.

According to the report, while being transported to jail, Bailey apologized “numerous times” and said he believed he had too much to drink and blacked out because he had “no recollection” of events.
