Advent Lutheran Church and the UCA Circle K Club will be sponsoring the 18th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Potato-Fest on Saturday to celebrate Irish heritage and benefit Bethlehem House, a transition shelter for the homeless in Faulkner County.
Advent Lutheran Church is at 900 Farris Road in Conway.
There will be a potato-bar dinner with all the trimmings from 6-7 p.m. followed by entertainment from Happenstance and The Boomers from 7-8:30 p.m.
Happenstance — Dan Clanton, Doug Coppock and Brooks Walthall — has been a group since 2003, regularly performing at folk festivals.
The Boomers is a popular acoustic folk group from Conway. Members are Joe Lombardi, Conrad Shumaker, Sara Shumaker, Michael Schaefer and J.D. Hatfield. The Boomers’ performance at Potato-Fest will consist largely of music from Ireland, Scotland, and other Celtic lands; and they may include a few original tunes.
The Potato-Fest dinner and entertainment are free. Donations, however, will be accepted with all proceeds to benefit Bethlehem H ouse. Up to $500 will be matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. For more information, contact Gary Roberts at 501-450-3416.
