CAFTA to recognize arts advocates

Conway Alliance for the Arts (CAFTA) has scheduled an awards celebration and reception for Friday, April 19, to be held in the Trieschmann Fine Arts Building on the Hendrix College Campus.

The awards, designed to recognize contributions to the Arts in Conway, will be given for Outstanding Arts Educator; Outstanding Student Achievement; Outstanding Individual Arts Achievement; and a special Mayor’s Award for Community Advocate for the Arts.

Members of the public are invited to submit nominations for any of these awards online at artsfestconway.com.

Also during the ceremony, the CAFTA Board will recognize an individual with a Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award.

According to CAFTA Board Chair, Kim Williams, “Nominees need not live in Conway but their contributions must be, or have been, impactful to the Conway arts community.

“The Conway Alliance for the Arts is very pleased to take the lead in recognizing some very talented individuals who have helped enrich all of our lives.”

The event will begin with a wine and hors d’oeuvre reception at the Trieschmann Fine Arts Building at Hendrix at 4:40 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 5 p.m.

“Michelangelo’s has been designated the official Arts Awards restaurant through their support, and we invite people to join us for dinner there if they’d like to continue the celebration,” Williams said.

Ticket for the reception and awards ceremony can be purchased by calling Kim at 501-932-5407.
