Grievance hearing for former FCSO deputies set for Wednesday

Posted: March 5, 2013 - 4:44pm

A grievance hearing for four former Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office employees has been set for 10 a.m. Wednesday in courtroom B at the Faulkner County Courthouse.

Justices serving on the grievance committee are Randy Higgins, Linda Paxton and Johnnie Wells.

Officials with FCSO reported the loss of nearly $30,000 to its budget February for the four deputies not rehired to their positions in January.

Sheriff Andy Shock is the official defendant in the case and will be represented by Michael Rainwater, a Little Rock attorney; the former county employees are the plaintiffs and will be responsible for their own legal representation.

Following the hearing, the committee and county judge will decide whether the deputies were wrongfully relieved of their responsibilities with FCSO and will make a recommendation to Shock accordingly.

(Note: Find details from the hearing online Wednesday at www.thecabin.net. Megan Reynolds is a staff writer and can be reached by phone at 501-505-1277. To comment on this story and others, visit www.thecabin.net.)

Question for LCD Staff

Has there been any updates concerning Andy's love child allegations?

I'm sure

I'm sure this will all be a dog and pony show. Nothing will come of this hearing. Faulkner County same old same old.

You are right, Old Man . . .

That's because there is likely nothing TO come of it. From what I've read in the news reports, the deputies were not wrongfully dismissed. The only reason they filed a greviance, and I don't blame them, is so they could get paid while they awaited their hearing. Now it's time to go find a job somewhere else.

Right to work state

Arkansas is a 'right to work state'. which somehow means you can be fired at any time without cause. You get your unemployment. Ask the 1000s Acxiom has laid off over the years.

Government jobs are a little different but not much.

Kudos for LCD

LCD announces that a hearing is set online the afternoon before the hearing mere hours before and prints it the day of a hearing, now that shows just how bad our local paper has got! It will be some more dog and pony show because all of Shocks supporters got promotions and hefty raises but the puppets at LCD are in place too. The timing of this article proves that! Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, please take over our local paper, then we will have a decent paper that we can get unbiased news from that is printed closer and is more than 4 pages long for the same cost.

@Oilman

If the sheriff hired them back at double their pay you wouldn't be happy with it. People who are into the big conspiracy seldom get how the world works. Let me explain how it works in the real world; leaders support, guide, and help those that are an asset to them and the organization. Those that aren't an asset don't get the same level of support and often times are eventually managed out. This typically happens at the leaders discretion.

I Know You

Unpublished

Can sue for anything @anytime but I have heard time after time that except for discrimination or a contract breach, in Arkansas you have NO recourse and can be let go because your hair wasn't combed a certain way and they don't have to tell you what that way is supposed to be.

AWw- Mr. 357

Are you telling us the real way it is being a cop in this county? I am happy if they don't hire them back because they knew they were part of a corrupt organization years ago and should have left because they were actually good people that did not want to be a part of it. Just ask all the officers how it was that left in the last several years! Stand up for right, the truth-remember before you sold yourself out to brown nose and cover or I mean support and be an asset to the beast with a promotion.

Oilman . . .

Worker bees always think 'the man' is holding them down which is why they never move up.
