The City of Conway is seeking to fill a board position on the Advertising and Promotion Commission, the mayor’s office announced Monday.
The commission is responsible for collecting the 2 percent tax on hotel and motel accommodations and the “hamburger tax,” a 2 percent tax on food and beverages served within the city limits.
The commission also determines the use of the city advertising and promotion fund.
The spot on the eight-member board will open up at the close of Jeremy Gardner’s term, which ends in May.
Commission terms are four years, according to the mayor’s office.
Gardner is allowed to reapply for his position on the board.
Nominations for the position will be accepted until Friday, March 15.
Individuals may be nominated or nominate themselves to be considered for the post.
Nominees should be owners or managers of area hotels, motels, restaurants or other businesses in the tourism industry.
To be appointed to the commission, nominees must be Conway residents and willing to attend meetings the first Tuesday of each month.
To nominate, visit www.cityofconway.org, or call Felicia Rogers at 450-6110.
Current board members are chairman Ray Kordsmeier, Mike Kraft, Angela Bagby, Reggie Rose, Jeremy Gardner, Andy Hawkins, Shelia Whitmore and Barbara Money.
