Next court date set for county administrator

Faulkner County Circuit Judge Mike Maggio set a motion hearing for July 12 in the case against county administrator Jeff Johnston Monday.

Johnston's defense attorneys Jeff Rosenzweig and Joe Don Winningham told the judge there are a couple of motions that require a full day in court, including the motion to change venue to another county.

Winningham said Monday the motion was filed due to media attention around the case.

Maggio said July 12 is the earliest full day available in court.

Johnston, 37, was charged in August with felony theft of property following an investigation into allegations that Johnston used county funds totaling about $3,800 to pay for an asphalt project on his private driveway.

Johnston has pleaded innocent to the charge and is still employed with the county.
