Man accused in officer's death waives arraignment

Posted: February 11, 2013 - 12:26pm

The man accused in the death of a Conway police officer waived his arraignment hearing Monday in Faulkner County Circuit Court.

Barry Strickland, 31, of Conway was to appear before the judge and enter a plea, but waived his first appearance.

The case was assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. Clawson.

Officer William McGary was directing traffic Jan. 31 on Dave Ward Drive when he was struck by a Jeep driven by Strickland.

McGary succumbed to his injuries on Feb. 1 at a hospital in Little Rock.

Strickland was booked into Faulkner County Jail following incident and charged with driving while intoxicated and first-degree battery.

He was later released on $150,000 bond.

Stoned or sober....

He should just man up and plead guilty. He has no defense what so ever.

That's right! Let's do away

That's right! Let's do away with the court system. Just let the mobs take people who are arrested and string them up on the courthouse lawn. We don't need trials by jury. The good readers of the cabin know what the truth is.

Whether Guilty or Innocent...

Almichael & Zheking -

It's about time someone showed up to help me defend Frankenstein from these mouth-breathing villagers.

Nobody knows...

More than he,what he is guilty of.
His loved ones are suffering too!
It's not your job to lynch the guy.
Let the system do its job.

You had me at "I hope...he rots"

I think we all hope that, IF he is FOUND guilty, then an appropriate sentence is levied against him.

You lost me at blaming his family for supporting him. Internet savages really ought to think before they scrawl their primitive messages on the virtual cave wall.

Even tho he has to have a

Even tho he has to have a trial, it is fair to say that of the dude was pulled out of the drivers seat immediately after hitting the officer, there is a better that rock solid chance he is the one they were looking for. You are an idiot if you think otherwise.

Waive

What is the point of an arraignment if you can waive it?
