William Alfred Nance III of Conway was named to the dean’s list with distinction after earning all A’s at Duke University for the Fall 2012 semester.
He is among 2,170 students who achieved that honor — 1,488 on the dean’s list and 682 on the dean’s list with distinction, according to a news release.
To make the Arts and Sciences dean’s list, students must rank in the top third of their college; for dean’s list with distinction, the top tenth of their college. At the Pratt School of Engineering, students must rank in the top third within their academic class to make the dean’s list; for dean’s list with distinction, the top tenth within their academic class.
Nance attends Duke University on an academic scholarship. He is majoring in economics, concentrating in finance, and has a double minor in computer science and Arabic-Middle Eastern Studies. He will graduate from Duke in May.
He was an honor graduate from Conway High School in 2009.
Nance is the son of Dana Strassle of Conway who is a science instructor at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, and Brian Nance of Conway, South Carolina, who is an associate Professor of history at Coastal Carolina University. He is the grandson of George and Emily Strassle of Conway.
Nance has been hired as an investment analyst by Citi Investment Research and Analysis in New York City and will take up his position upon graduation in May.
