Funeral services are planned for Wednesday for a Conway police officer killed in the line of duty.
William McGary was directing traffic around an accident on Thursday when he was struck by a motorist reportedly driving under the influence. Authorities say the 26-year-old died from his injuries on Friday afternoon at a Little Rock hospital.
McGary's funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church in Searcy, with a graveside service to follow at a cemetery in Romance.
Conway police officials say calls to their department will be re-routed Wednesday afternoon so all police employees can attend the funeral. The department lobby will close at 10 a.m.
McGary was born Nov. 20, 1986, in Heber Springs. According to his obituary, he was a passionate Razorbacks fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling and racing.
