LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — An Arkansas lawmaker proposing to ban most abortions in the state says he wasn't referring to race when he told an audience in 2011 that he didn't want "minorities to run roughshod" over their beliefs.
Republican State Sen. Jason Rapert of Conway on Monday defended the remarks that he made at a Tea Party rally in front of the Capitol and said footage of the speech was being selectively used to portray him as racist. The Nation first reported Rapert's comments on Friday.
Rapert told reporters he was referring to political minorities and not racial minorities.
Rapert is the chief sponsor of legislation that would ban most abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected. The Senate last week approved the measure and it's now pending before a House committee.

Politics 101
When in doubt, accuse racism.
Works every time.
And
Deny, deny, deny. But in Mr. Rapert's case I think you are correct i_wonder.
I don't care much for hallelujah politicians but I think that this is just backlash from abortion supporters.
yes
And his "southern drawl accent" was more offensive to me than his comments.
But, it's smart politics, in the form of pandering.
Hillary did it in Kentucky and Barack Obama did it in New Orleans.
It's political genius.
"It's political genius."
I guess you're right when in this day and age that is all that matters. We get what we collectively deserve.
Political minorities

Close to a Knee
Is my guess but either you are ARnologic or quiil the knee-jerk liberal crowd would have to tell me if knee taste any different than foot.

Wasn't it the Utah Senator that said he didn't want gay rights "rammed down his throat" or "in hids kid's faces"?? The irony.
