Downtown parking a priority

SPECIAL TO THE LOG CABIN

Executive Director Kim Williams, Conway Development Partnership, said an issue they are addressing now is providing more parking downtown. Plans are to revamp the two existing parking lots flanking Main Street to its north and south to eliminate wasted space and make them more accessible. These changes could add up to 30 additional spaces. Adding on-street, diagonal parking along Main Street would add 30 to 40 spaces, utilizing a lane, which Williams says, now leads to nowhere.

“The whole area will gain about 100 parking spaces from Locust to Front Street,” Williams said. “It’s a long-term solution we can work on immediately. That’s near term, this year.”
