SPECIAL TO THE LOG CABIN
The Conway Adult Education Center, now located at 125 Center St., has a new career coach, according to a recent news release.
Daniel Brinker, of Conway, will serve as a career coach and Math-Language tutor for all students attending Adult Ed.
He is originally from Russellville, where he attended Russellville Adult Education to obtain his General Education Diploma at age 20. After taking the COMPASS entrance exam, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton offered Brinker a full scholarship based on his high COMPASS test scores. He attended UACCM for two years, maintained a high grade point average and then transferred to the University of Central Arkansas to finish up his bachelor’s degree.
While attending UCA, Daniel conducted research and study in the Biology Department where he wrote his thesis on the Mathematical Modeling of Photosynthesis. In December, Daniel graduated UCA with a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and a minor in Physical Science. Brinker hopes to make lasting impressions with the students of Conway Adult Education, according to the release.
Brinker plans to guide, assist and mentor students, just as a college professor did him. He is excited about the opportunity to serve students in small groups and one on one to equip students with basic fundamentals of “how to go to college and how to get a job,” he said in the release.
”I had to learn how to go through these steps in life the hard way,” Brinker said in the release. “Students should have the chance to meet their academic and life goals without tremendous stress, and I am here to help them in any way I possibly can.”
Brinker and his wife, Laura, have lived in Conway for the past three years. For fun, Brinker teaches guitar lessons, speaks German and travels.
