Conway Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Greg Murry confirmed that administrators are meeting with local pastors Thursday morning.
Murry said the meeting is concerning what pastors and religious groups will be able to do on the campus of Conway schools. The meeting is closed to the press.
Murry said any outcome of the meeting may come up before the Conway School Board but not at the next scheduled meeting.

....be closed to the press?
Yep
I don't understand that.
closed
Meetings are often closed, actually. In this case, the district can close the meeting because its between private individuals and the superintendent. It would be open if two school board members went or elected officials or UCA board of trustees.
And, sometimes officials want closed meetings, especially in school situations. It doesn't mean anyone is doing anything shady, but it often means school officials are acting, in my mind, overly cautious. I'd have loved to have gone, but I understand why school officials would like a bit of privacy. (Also, we still got the story. ;)
What about
Rabbis, Imams, or Athiest groups? I imagine the community would want open meetings.
Someone gave us insight on
Someone gave us insight on Facebook. We're asking for anyone who went to the meeting to talk to us.
COME ON MAN
They are just having a discussion about how active they can be on campus without crossing any federal lines and are trying not to get in trouble while they work that out. Sounds like they just what to help.
If Dick Cheney can have private meetings with entergy (oil, gas ETC) and we aren't allowed to know what he (a government official) told private industry leaders. Then maybe on this one thing until Dr. Murry and them can get together and see what they can and want to do to help CPS. Then discuss it after they state what they are trying to do.
Right now it looks like it is can we get together and discusss what options are legal, privately.
NO PRESS ALLOWED!!!!
exactly Buzz
The same people complaining about this secret meeting, don't seem to mind a President that has a secret "kill list".
Just saying.
so let's get this straight
1) armed guards at a school = bad
2) pastors at a school = bad
3) gunman at a school = merely unfortunate?
What a wacky world we live in....
Two thoughts...
1 - I would think the school would welcome community involvement, whether it be from local pastors or other individuals/groups. For that, I applaud Dr. Murry.
2 - I really have to question why/if it was "closed to the press". Were school officals asked about it and responded with "It is closed to the press"? Or is that statement there simply because the press wasn't notified in advance?
If it was a closed meeting, I have to chalk that up to another questionable decision by Dr. Murry. What's he trying to do, get a job at UCA or something?
I don't think anything "fishy" is going on, but it naturally leads people to question. The smart decision would be to either open it up to the public, or have a press release announcing what was discussed and what issues are being addressed.
So is it "FISHY"
When doctors have closed and seal the records for "morbidity and mortality" dicussions?!?!?!?
Doctors have been hiding behind these for years to keep from getting sued. Because how can you learn as a doctor\surgeon if you can't speak openly and say I screwed up and cut to deep, left a sponge ETC inside the patient.
Again it sounds like no one is sure what they want to do and they just want to discuss the Legalities and Possibilities.
