Young artists’ works are on display at St. Joseph School, located at 502 Front Street, for the next three weeks, officials said.
The school is hosting the exhibit, which includes 18 pieces from the “Young Arkansas Artists 51st Annual Exhibition.” The traveling exhibit is organized by the Arkansas Arts Center with the cooperation of the Arkansas Department of Education, according to a news release.
Artists in grades kindergarten through 12th competed to be part of the exhibit. Entries must be original works created under a teacher’s supervision during the school year. Members of the Arkansas Art Educators Association select works based on originality and artistic merit. This year, 177 Arkansas schools submitted a total of 667 works of art, from which 116 paintings, drawings and mixed media pieces were selected for the exhibit. Students who earned a spot in the exhibit include those from Conway and Vilonia public schools.
