Grab and dash bling at JC Penney

A man asked to see jewelry at JC Penney, then grabbed the diamond ring he was shown, ran out of the store and jumped into a teal 4-door car, according to a police report.

The theft happened at about 4 p.m. Saturday at the JC Penney at 201 Skyline Drive.

The man, in his 20s, came into the store and asked to see 2 karat diamond rings or studs. At least one witness said the man seemed agitated and talked to himself. He asked to see the same type of jewelry repeatedly, according to the report.

When shown a men’s ring with three diamonds set in white gold, the man “snatched it out of her hand and ran out of the store,” according to the report. He drove off going north on Arkansas 65 toward Pickles Gap.

Video of the theft is blurred, according to the report.

The man is described as a black man who was wearing black jeans, a blue hoodie, black sneakers and a black ball cap with red lettering at the time of the theft.
