Car accident in Faulkner county kills two children

Two passengers in a car traveling in Faulkner County died when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck an SUV head-on.


A 1-year-old and a 2-year-old were both killed in the crash.

Police said the vehicle carrying both passengers was traveling north on Highway 36 near Enola at about 3 p.m. on Christmas Day when the car lost control on the icy road and slid into the southbound lane. The two vehicles crashed head on, and the northbound vehicle slid into the east shoulder of the roadway. The other car slid to the west shoulder.

Four other people were injured in the crash, two from each vehicle. They were all taken to Conway Regional Hospital. The mother is reported to be in serious condition.

The weather was described as having sleet and rain. 

The deaths were the only ones reported Wednesday morning by Arkansas state police since a snowstorm struck Christmas afternoon. Another fatality was reported by the State Police, this one in Pine Bluff, but it was not related to weather conditions.
