Woodrow Cummins Elementary parents met outside the school in Conway early Monday to pray for students and teachers, and especially those close to second-grader Madelyn Grace Johnston.
The eight-year-old Woodrow Cummins student, daughter of T.J. and Rachel Johnston, died Saturday as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident, Searcy County officials said.
Dewayne Pierce, Searcy County chief deputy, said the incident occurred about one mile off of State Highway 65 in north Marshall.
Pierce did not release full details of the accident, citing an active investigation.
A driver and another passenger sustained minor injuries, he said.
Pierce said investigators do not suspect foul play, but that it was "just an unfortunate, tragic accident."
A parent prayed for comfort during a "dark time" Monday, following the school shooting in Newtown, Conn. Friday, and the subsequent loss of Madelyn on Saturday.

My heart is breaking for this family in their loss. ATVs are dangerous devices and must be treated accordingly.
Agreed. Lets ban them. to
Agreed. Lets ban them. Too many kids are hurt or killed on ATV's because parents ignore the warnings that they are meant for operators over the age of 16 and most importantly, a single rider. It says it right on the ATV's fenders.
Hold on.
There is more than one type of ATV and the one in the accident on Saturday was not a four-wheeler.
Ummm....
According to the report, an adult was operating the ATV and had an accident with two children on board. The adult and second child survived with minor injuries.
Still not an optimum decision by all involved, but the child was not operating the ATV.
Regardless, this is a horrific accident and a beautiful young life was lost. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the child.
So Little Info
When it said a driver and passenger I thought the ATV might have hit a car. How can you be sure this wasn't a 4 wheeler and car accident?
Because...
I am a part of their extended family. The end.

So what kind of vehicle was it? A side-by-side seating like the Polaris Rangers?
So
Were they wearing seatbelts and helmets?!?
Was it being driven properly
Was it being driven properly and in a safe manner? And were all safety gear and attachments being used?
It is a very tragic accident.
It is a very tragic accident. And another young life has been cut short.
