Henry Hawk of Conway, 75, a personal trainer, has been nominated for a “Return the Kindness” award presented by the Marriott company,
He’s made it to the nation’s Top Ten finalists, winning a $250 certificate for a charity of his choice.
One of his biggest fans is pushing for Hawk to win the contest, an expense-paid trip for two to Aruba from Marriott.
Trisha Sossong is the mother of Robert Robinson, 29, one of Hawk’s proteges who was injured so badly that physicians said there was no hope of regaining any movement or getting off life support.
They said the only thing Robert would possibly be able to do was blink his eyes.
Two other proteges, Tera Clark, 29, and Scotty Ellis, 32, of Maumelle, also injured in accidents, also received the grimmest of news.
Through the years, Hawk has worked with them several times a week, traveling to their homes and accompanying them to gyms.
Hawk has said their continued improvement is his reward.
To vote for Hawk, go to the Facebook page for Marriott Caribbean and Mexico Resorts. The website is http://apps.facebook.com/return_the_kindness/tabs.

You may vote one time a day through Nov. 30. The nominee with the most votes at midnight Nov. 30 will win. The winner will be announced Dec. 3.
