Early voting starts Monday

Posted: October 20, 2012 - 9:51pm

If you want to vote in Faulkner County and do not want to travel to the courthouse in Conway, they will get the chance for the first time ever.

Early voting at multiple sites will begin Monday at 10 a.m. Voters will be able to vote in Vilonia, Greenbrier, Mayflower as well as the Faulkner County Courthouse and the Faulkner County Library.

“What we have tried to do as an Election Commission is to give the people of Faulkner County every opportunity to cast their vote,” said Election Commission Chairman Frank Shaw. “This is historic and will hopefully allow more people to have a voice. We hope this will increase the number of voters at the polls.”

Another advantage for voters is that they will be able to vote at any of the locations. They do not have to head to the nearest site to their address. Once they vote, they will be noted and will not be able to vote at any other site.

Every site except for the courthouse will open at 10 a.m. The courthouse will open at 8 a.m.

The sites include:

Faulkner County Library, Tyler Street in Conway

Vilonia First Baptist Church, Main Street in Vilonia

Greenbrier City Events Center, Wilson Farm Rd in Greenbrier

Mayflower City Hall, Ashmore Street in Mayflower

The times for off-site voting are:

• Oct. 22–26 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

• Oct. 27 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

•Oct. 29–Nov. 2 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

The times for voting at the courthouse are:

• Oct. 22–26 8 a.m.–6 p.m.

• Oct. 27 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

• Oct. 29–Nov. 2 8 a.m.–6 p.m.

• Nov. 3 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Nov. 5 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Editor’s note: Due to faulty information, the wrong times were printed earlier. The off-site voting will not begin until 10 a.m.

Voting at the Library

Did anyone else but me notice that all candidates for all offices followed the 100 foot rule for campaign signs except Tab "the rules don't apply to me" Townsell?

It's a mess

I think I'm going to take my signs up today. It's just too much of an eyesore to have all of them there, and I don't want to add to the problem.

Sample Ballot?

What happened to the LCD's usual practice of publishing the sample ballot? How about some coverage/interviews with candidates? If not for the signs littering the landscape, we wouldn't know who was running for what office in Conway. Are we supposed to pick based on whose color scheme we like best?

See at the top of the page...

Next to the "Home" icon, there is a "News" icon to the right, mouse over that and a drop down list appears, scroll down to "Politics" and click on that. Much info and stories to comb through! Enjoy your research!

Went at noon yesterday (10/23)... Took about 45 minutes at the library. Less time than I was expecting.
