We (Sinfonia) are NOT an all male fraternity. During a period of nine years in the 70s and 80s, around 250 women were initiated as brothers. OAS AAS LLS means, literally, that we are a co-ed fraternity that currently initiates men only. To say otherwise is contrary to our oath. As for professional v social, the object of the fraternity is clear - the advancement of music in America, from the perspective of the founders, was en effort to combat discrimination against America-born and American-trained musicians and composers among American musical organizations
