Candidates in Conway's Ward 2 to meet residents

Posted: October 5, 2012 - 9:27pm

Residents of Ward 2 in Conway will meet the candidates for position 1 during a meeting hosted by council members Shelley Mehl and Mark Vaught. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Monday at the Faulkner County Library.

Vaught is running for Faulkner County Clerk and the open position is contested by Aaron Knight, Wes Pruitt and James Quinn. All three are scheduled to appear.

Each candidate will be able to give opening remarks and respond to several questions important to the ward. Most will deal with traffic and road concerns in the area. The official question and answer session will last approximately 30 minutes with another 30 minutes devoted to open questions from those in attendance. Each candidate will then have a closing remark.

Ward 2 encompasses the northeast quadrant of the Conway. Recent census data expanded the western boundary for Ward 2 to Salem Road. Mehl and Vaught said that while only residents of Ward 2 may vote in the upcoming November election for position 1, all are welcome to attend this meeting.

For questions, please contact Shelley Mehl, shelley.mehl@cityofconway.org or Mark Vaught, mark.vaught@cityofconway.org.

Hey Shelley and Mark..

When will Andy Hawkins come out of hiding and meet some of the voters he represents?

Andy Hawkins..

Andy doesn't have time for the people he views as Peasants. (aka the citizens of Conway).

Last time he spoke to the people at a forum was a month ago. He was asked about why they rush through Ordinances without the required 3 readings, and not allow much input from the people... in which he said in a very patronizing and arrogant tone..."Well I do my Home Work". Basically his attitude was, I am Smart.. you all are dumb now shut up. I thought the crowd was gonna rush him and throw him out of the building when he said that....

No time for the little people...

I agree with havok. Hawkins is too busy doing his "homework" to return phone calls or answer emails. I quit contacting him two years ago after he didn't call me back nor answer my followup email about a new roundabout proposal.

Also, I think he does most of his "homework" sucking down happy hour drinks most evening at Michelangelo's.
