Traffic was backed up for much of the day on Tuesday along Interstate 40 near the 131 mile marker after a semi-truck traveling westbound overnight crashed through the guard rail, coming to a rest in Lake Conway.
The truck driver, Timothy Ward, 78, of Florence, Ala. was treated for minor injuries.
The Arkansas State Police and the State Highway and Transportation Department continued to work with recovery crews along the 2.5 mile stretch of road on Tuesday afternoon, where traffic was routed into a single lane.
At noon on Tuesday, state troopers reported that traffic was backed up for approximately 5 miles west of the crash scene.
Work is expected to continue into the early rush hour period. Travelers are advised to consider an alternate route, and trucks with wide loads are discouraged from traveling through the area.

Ain't nothing semi about that mess.
Was he going West or East? If
Was he going West or East? If Westbound why would traffic be backed up 5 miles West of accident. Believe he was eastbound as 365 was a nightmare this morning.
going west
I believe that is the north edge of Round Mountain in the background.
Yes, west bound
Did you notice that round mountain is flat in places? I've known people who sang that way?
Hwy365 North were traveling at 10 MPH at 7pm from Morgan to Conway all the way.
Answer to your question
@ SWIBC the accident was in the Westbound side of I-40. And the reason the traffic would be backed up 5 miles "west" of the accident would be those wanting to slow down and see what was going on aka "rubberneckers" as we call them on the cb radio. Hope that helps explain it for you.
and remember
Westbound is heading north, Eastbound is heading south.
Just to clear that up :)
Sorry this popped song popped into my mind....
East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound just watch ol'Bandit run
what?
Where's this "Lake Conway" you speak of?
They Meant
To report the semi ran into Craig D. Campbell Lake Conway Reservoir.
OH!
Now I get it, why didn't they just SAY Craig D. Campbell Lake Conway Reservoir in the first place? Sheesh, so confusing...
