Police seeking man in connection with Friday morning rape

Posted: September 17, 2012 - 4:26pm

Investigators with the Conway Police Department are looking for a person of interest in the case of last week’s alleged rape of a Conway woman.

A resident at Keathley Drive off of East German Lane called police around 3:40 a.m. Friday to report she was asleep in bed when she woke up with a man “straddling and choking her.”

The victim told police the man made her undress and then forced her into the bathroom where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

LaTresha Woodruff, public information officer for the department, said the woman managed to escape through an open bathroom window, the same window police believe the subject used to gain entry into the home.

The victim then reportedly went to a neighbor’s house to call police and saw the alleged attacker leave through the front door.

She then returned to her home to get her child.

Woodruff said the victim could not offer much of a description of the subject because it was dark at the time of the alleged incident, but he is described as white and about five feet, 10 inches tall.

The victim received medical attention for injuries she suffered during the attack, and the child was unharmed.

According to Woodruff, police are looking for Jonathan Thacker, 32, of Conway, as a person of interest in the case.

No charges have been brought against Thacker, but detectives believe he has “some personal knowledge” about the case.

Thacker reportedly lives in the area where the alleged rape occurred, but detectives have been unable to locate him for an interview.

Anyone with knowledge of Thacker’s whereabouts is urged to contact CPD at 450-6120, or text a tip to CRIMES (274637) key word Conway.

Tacky

Megan don't you think it is a little tacky to put a "person of interest picture" next to a story that says "......morning rape". "Some personal knowledge" seems a long way from even being charged. He may be
the guilty as far as I know but if he is just a "person with some personal knowledge". It seems unfair. Someone suggested that only those
convicted pictures be posted, not sure that is necessary but at least have them have a warrant out for their arrest first.

Get real!

The photo is to help identify this "person of interest" (i.e. alleged suspect) so if anyone DOES see this person they know to call the police. Were you born yesterday, Legalwantabe?

yes

You are correct. Most people on here are completely ok with condemning everyone, even if theres a chance they might be innocent. Unfortunately the Cabin doesn't care either. They will post everything they need to to get ratings for their stories. Very unprofessional. Always has been and I rarely take their stories seriously because they are so unappropriate in so many situations.

hey cabin trolls

this isn't about ratings.this is about a woman being brutally attacked and raped. they say "person of interest" until they press charges. so, get off your high horses because if this was your daughter, you would want the man who did this to be found immediately.

I AGREE!

You are so correct itsjustme. If it had been their daughter, they would be extremely grateful for this article by Megan.

Way too many people in this day and age putting themselves in the shoes of the perpetrator, instead of the victim!

Hey now

They may be talking to him about dinner plans. That's unprofessional and tacky to imply the police are interviewing him in connection to a rape. You know the best way to find people of interest is to not show photos, release names, nor talk about it until they are at least charged. DUH!
