A jury trial could wrap up today in the case against a man charged in 2011 with three counts of rape of a 7-year-old child who is known to him.

Dr. Byron Kevin Beaver, 39, of Conway was arrested in Aug. 2011 following an investigation that was based on allegations made by the mother of the victim.

The panel of jurors began deliberation just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. As of press time, no verdict had been delivered.

In a previous interview with the Log Cabin Democrat, Faulkner County Sheriff's Captain Matt Rice said investigators believed it was "apparent" that the case needed further attention after speaking with the victim and discussing the case.

Beaver was a medical doctor with a wound care practice in Morrilton that was affiliated with the St. Vincent Health System in Little Rock.

Beaver turned himself in to investigators after being made aware of the allegations, Rice said.
