A fund has been set up in memory of Drake Walker, the 12-year-old Conway boy who died during a flash flood Saturday in west Conway.
The website promoting the fund had raised $1,425 as of Tuesday afternoon.
“It was Drake’s desire to go on a mission trip to Haiti in the summer of 2013,” the website says. “In lieu of flowers the Walker family would like for people to donate to a mission fund so that we can send his brother, mother and father on a Haiti mission in the summer of 2013.”
Speculation was that Walker, who was a student at Ruth Doyle Middle School, was swept through rushing water to the drainage culvert that delivered him to the pond. He was reported missing by a friend near the Centennial Valley neighborhood. The friend was reported unharmed.
