Conway man possible suspect in two reported rape cases

Posted: August 10, 2012 - 8:26pm

Conway Police Department officials say an 18-year-old Conway man who was arrested in connection with the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman may be a suspect in another rape case.

According to LaTresha Woodruff, public relations officer with CPD, the girl came forward on Thursday to report that she had been

raped by an acquaintance at Conway Station Park on Robins Street.

Woodruff said few details were available on Friday, but confirmed that the man had been arrested on Thursday night following an interview with CPD investigators.

In a similar incident, the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children division notified CPD on Wednesday that a 17-year-old girl reported she had been raped by an acquaintance known only to her as “Mikey” on the playground at Julia Lee Moore Elementary School on Country Club Road.

“Right now investigators are looking at this as being possibly the same person who was arrested,” Woodruff said. SAT

The suspect is being held in Faulkner County jail. Prosecutors have filed no charges in the case. A bond hearing is set for August 27.
