Man arrested for alleged child rape

Posted: June 25, 2012 - 7:17pm

Police arrested Lucas Scott Parker, 35, of Conway, for the alleged rape and second-degree sexual assault of a minor female on Sunday.

According to a report, the incidents occurred over a span of six years, beginning in 2006.

Additional information on the circumstances of the allegations was not provided in the report, but LaTresha Woodruff, public information officer with the Conway Police Department, said the girl told an adult Parker had sexual contact with her and it was then reported to the Conway Police Department.

Woodruff said that after “a couple of days” of investigation, Parker was arrested Saturday evening at his home and was taken into custody without incident. “This is still an active case involving a juvenile,” Woodruff said. “More information will be released once the case is closed.”

Nothing new

this has been going on since the beginning of civilization. The idea that women choose a spouse sometime after their 18th birthday is a realtivley new to world culture. Arranged marriage is still practiced in many societies.

At one time (for a long time) survival of the species depended on procreation as soon as fertility permitted.

That said, in our society I agree with the idea that young people should be protected by society until they are of an age to make rational decisions. ("of an age" is a strange way put it?).

Mature people taking advantage of the immature is truly descpicable behaviour but not 'what the he))' surprising.

What's really sad is

I'm sure it happens a lot more often than what gets reported. Many times the youths feel it was part their fault or that they instigated it, so they end up just living with it and not reporting it.

Too true

as in this case it highlights that. It started happening six years ago but is just now being reported.

Hope she gets the help she needs.

@grumpy81

Seems like you have more information on this perp than the paper...Most likely there are more victims in this mess than the primary one.
