Anyone who missed the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office’s annual auction last summer has another opportunity to make bargain bids. An auction separate from the annual event will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Selby-Ross National Guard Armory.
The auction features items seized by deputies on behalf of the Department of Finance and other private entities, Capt. Matt Rice said. Items include household goods, electronics, weapons and furniture.
Rice said that with hundreds of items available, officials expect the auction to move quickly. He said that people wanting to bid should arrive between 9 and 10 a.m. to view the auction items.
“We’ll try to keep the auction moving along,” Rice said. “It’s a good idea to see what is available.”
Rice said he understands that some people are uneasy about bidding on an item someone lost because of unfortunate circumstances; however, anyone who had property seized had ample opportunity to avoid losing their belongings, he said.
“This (seizure) is by no means a quick process,” Rice said. “Anyone who had property seized was given several warnings and opportunities to avoid this process. We try to work with people so they avoid this circumstance but the bottom line is that we all have to pay our taxes.”
Proceeds from Friday’s auction will be claimed by the Department of Finance and other private entities to which funds are owed.
The armory is at 300 Exchange Ave. in Conway Industrial Park.
