Boys & Girls Club, UCA students to host health fair
A team of students from the University of Central Arkansas and the Boys & Girls Club of Faulkner County are hosting a children’s health fair, LEAP Forward, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Boys & Girls Club of Faulkner County, 1313 Deer St., Conway.
The LEAP Forward Event will feature many activities for children. There will be demonstrations by GrandMaster Hans Martial Arts, Jazzercise, 365 Fitness, smoothies from Smoothie King and nutrition trivia led by licensed dietitians. Admission is free for children and their parents. This is an event exclusively for children and their parents. All children must be accompanied by an adult and register on LEAP’s Facebook page prior to the event.
The team has created LEAP for the United Way of Faulkner County. They have also partnered with the Boys and Girls Club and the Healthy Weight Coalition’s Moving Toward Health. LEAP’s goal is to raise awareness of ways parents and people of the community can fight childhood obesity by providing them with tools that are simple and fun.
