In the first phase of a move to become more active in gleaning the wealth of data from mobile phones, email, social media, rewards programs, and other digital media, Acxiom Corp. will be adding 150 employees, most to come from Central Arkansas.
Tim McKenna, Director of Global Staffing for Acxiom, said Monday that “Companies are struggling to harness that digital information, and Acxiom wants to make sure we have the technology in place to do that.”
Acxiom will be using a variety of resources to fill the positions, especially from local colleges and universities.
A lot of attention will be focused on recruiting at the University of Central Arkansas, Hendrix, Arkansas Tech and the Universities of Arkansas at Little Rock and Fayetteville.
There are 60 active interns in the company’s internship program, and perhaps many of those will be offered full-time jobs as they approach graduation, McKenna said.
A lot of the jobs will be software developer positions and software testing positions. A number of product manager positions are also open.
Some of the positions will require strong digital marketing talent, McKenna said, and those would be assigned to the company’s offices in New York City or Foster City, Calif.
Current openings are listed in the company’s website at Acxiom.com under the Careers section. New positions will be added weekly.
“We already have 170 positions open now and we will be adding every week,” McKenna said.
Acxiom recently pledged $200,000 to UCA to fund for four years the salary of an assistant professor in the department of computer science.
At market’s close Monday ACXM was trading at 13.68 a share, down .08.

Hired today laid off in 9 months and hired back 2 months later only to be laid off 14 months later for no other reason than the stock priced dropped. And cut labor cost is they only answer Acxiom knows when it comes to creating revenue.
ALL ABOARD!!!
Binge and purge
Is what's called the Acxiom personnel management metric. I'd imagine this'll be the same trip. Hire 150, down the road send 100+ packing, rinse, repeat.
Does anybody else see the metaphor in this from a company where the human condition is broken down into datasets?
They've given you a number, and they've taken 'way your name.
How much has Acxiom
How much has Acxiom contributed to the local economy and job market? Not saying they're right or wrong, just wondering where would Conway be today without Acxiom, CCX, Demographics, or the old Ward Bus Co mail shop?
Yep, I've had many friends tossed-around by this company, and particularly by some of their a-hole holier-than-thou mgt. But cry as we all do, hasn't 'The Acx' over the years poured a ton of money into Conway, et al?
