Members of the Conway Police Department were called to a downtown restaurant early Sunday morning to break up a disturbance between attendees at a private party.
Officers arriving at the party hosted at Michaelangelo’s, had to call for back up from deputies with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the University of Central Arkansas’s Police Department.
According to La Tresha Woodruff, public information officer, CPD was called by someone working at the party, who stated that the building was near capacity and they needed help to clear the area. However, once the officers arrived and saw an altercation in progress and the large number of people in attendance, they immediately called for assistance.
“Our officers were called to help clear the building, but with the amount of people present and an altercation already in progress, they opted to have assistance to help clear the area as quickly as possible,” she said. “With the quick response from all agencies, several arrests were made as those responsible for the altercation were placed into custody.”
While the number of patrons inside the building has not been made available, speculation from law enforcement officers who responded to the incident indicate that hundreds of people were in attendance, which may violate the number legally allowed to be inside the building.
After dispersing the crowd, agencies were dispatched to a residence on Arden Lane where the crowd had gathered. The gathering there was also broken up and those gathered were sent on their way once again.
The incident is reminiscent of the gathering held at the Conway Expo Center in December of 2011 where all departments were asked to assist in clearing the building during a disturbance also involving a large crowd.
However, the most recent incident is not believed to be related to a fraternity gathering.
More information about the incident is expected on Monday.

Well my wife and I shared a meal and a couple of drinks at one of the local pub that night. So glad it wasn't that one. Where we were everyone acted in an adult manner.
huh?
So much for the "we just want a little wine with our dinner".
Get wet 2012 and punch someone.

I bet it took a while for the "University of Arkansas" police to show up. Over a 2 hour drive from Fayetteville.
UCA
you know what I meant ;)
Hey
Did all this go down on your Ride Along Night?
Late to church?
Due to all the problems, some of these people were probably late to church Sunday morning. Don't you think? I had a nice quiet Saturday night, and made it to church on time.
No police intervention needed.
BOOKED
We need an update so we can see Who these people B!!
I'm just guessing....
that this all started when someone went out to smoke without paying their tab.
I needed a laugh this afternoon
Good one...thanks!!
Brilliant
I like how the police weren't called until the wee hours of Sunday morning and told "the building was near capacity and they needed help to clear the area". I would wager that it had been at near capacity for quite some time but they didn't mind because of the money they were making off of the alcohol sales. Now what do you do when you have a building full of feisty drunks who are out of money? Call the CPD to be your free on-call bouncers!
Thank goodness we live in a dry county!
