Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Harkey are in Dallas and Fort Worth this week, where eastern and pacific coast lines of style merchandise are on display. They plan to buy for Harkey’s women’s ready-to-wear store here.

Geretta Acklinof Mayflower, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fizer Acklin, has been chosen Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow of Pine Street High School. Mrs. D. S. Woods, homemaking teacher, made the presentation in assembly Wednesday.
The 1962 Betty Crocker search reached another all-time high in enrollment with 406,132 girls in 12,874 schools participating. The program now is in its eighth year. By the end of this year, more than two and a half million girls will have participated and scholarship awards will have totaled more than $750,000.

Jeff Hart, 19, a University of Central Arkansas student from Greenbrier, scraped a layer of ice yesterday morning from the windshield of his truck. Faulkner County residents awoke Sunday morning to find thin coatings of ice, making travel hazardous along slickened highways, bridges and overpasses. City, county and state law enforcement officials reported numerous weather-related accidents Saturday night and yesterday.

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) recently visited world history students at Conway High School-West to share with them waht life was like during medieval times. Students Courtney White, Angie Grubb and Quentin Maxfield visited with SCA re-enactors Stephanie Sitzes (Lady Arianna Stephana d’Queste) and Tracy Rogalla (Lady Resa d’Olipant).
