Greenbrier High School receives a grant to map fire hydrants for the City of Greenbrier volunteer fire department.

The Greenbrier EAST lab received an “EAST After Hours” grant funded by the Enhancing Education Through Technology grant made possible by the Arkansas Department of Education and is done in cooperation with the Southeast Educational Service Cooperative and the EAST Initiative.

This grant will provide students an opportunity to work with fire chief Cody Fulmer to engage in learning real world skills and truly making difference in our community. Students will use GPS/GIS software to collect data and map each fire hydrant. The students’ goal is to enable the fire department to easily access this data which will enhance proficiency and response times. The students will create an updated map, as well as, providing the volunteer fire department with software training on how to access the data with a mobile device.
