Conway Public Schools, geez.

So why did it take Conway until 5:00am this morning to finally decide that they would be closed?

I would imagine

they waited because they had no snow days built in their calendar...and they didn't want to have to go to school thru the 4th of July...just guessing.

You're likely correct bbwine1

It just seems like every other district in the state decided it and announced it last night. While I, as well as many others, had to tell our employer "Well I might or might not be in. I'll let you know at the very last moment".

Conway should have been just

Conway should have been just like the City and State and operate 2 hrs late. Conway roads are very drivable. The whining gets hilarious on this forum.

Other roads

The district has to consider all the roads in the district, not just the roads in Conway. While the Conway roads maybe clear, others may not be. That is the basis for their decision. The same goes for the 2 hours late. Some people could probably make it to work, others cannot.

Late cancellation

I would ask the Conway School District to make it a policy to announce school closing for inclement weather before 9pm. I understand that sometimes waiting until 5am may change the decision, but parents awoke this morning to clear roads, thinking their kids would be going to school. At 6 or 7am, they had to scramble to call grandparents, friends, or their workplace to make arrangements to have their child supervised today. Many employers are put in a bind when their employee calls that late. Making the wrong call is an occupational hazard for those who make the decision, and we need to give them a break when wrong... but on the other side, they should make their announcement well enough in advance to allow parents to make proper arrangements.

the district every year has

the district puts in 4 scheduled snow days at the end of every year for this exact situation, not just one.

but my guess is they were probably not trying to waste one calling it early and the roads being fine, which happened last year.

atleast they have facebook now to tell you right then and there. if not youd have to get online or wait for the tv to scroll through dozens of names when you woke up in the morning. be thankful they even do that

@SWIBC

Whining? lol thats funny seeing from some of your past comments.

"nice to see City had a plan since in one hour Oak Street is already an ice rink and no sanding trucks to be seen. Yeah for AR and wintry weather,"....Sounds to me like you are one of the biggest whiners on here. :)
