Six earthquakes were recorded in Faulkner County late Monday and early Tuesday.
The first, which followed four other quakes on Monday, was a 2.5 magnitude and occurred at 10:59 p.m. two miles east-southeast of Guy. A second, with a 2.1 magnitude, registered at 11:05 p.m. one mile southeast of Guy.
A 2.3 magnitude quake hit at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday two miles south of Guy, followed by a 2.4 magnitude rocker at 1:52 a.m. in the same location. At 1:58 a.m., a 2.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded one mile southeast of Guy. A 2.6 magnitude shaker occurred at 3:55 a.m. two miles east-southeast of Guy.
The recent rise in the number of earthquakes in Faulkner County has caught the attention of many. Sen. Blanche Lincoln recently sent a letter to the Senior Science Advisor for Earthquake and Geological Hazards requesting a report from the USGS assessing the recent earthquakes. Faulkner County Judge Preston Scroggin said more scientists would be coming to the area to study the recent quakes.

Faulkner county has felt many earthquakes lately. Two or three have been felt by people, the rest are small quivers. It is being investigated and more news will come later.
What I stated above could be summed up and explained in one, maybe two articles. But every other day? An absolute waste of a journalist's time. The earthquakes should not be reported again until a definitive answer has been found explaining their frequency or if/when Guy falls into the ground.
Consumer
You read the article that is surrounded by advertising banners, right? Mission accomplished.
So because I click on a link
So because I click on a link that is littered by advertisements makes it ok for the newspaper to repeat an article 10 times with no new substantial information?
Is it so horrible to wish that our town had a quality newspaper with quality stories and less errors?
EARTHQUAKES
i PERSONALLY LIKE KNOWING ABOUT THE EARTHQUAKES. IF YOU DONT QUIT READING. :)
Shakin all over
I'm sure the oil companies would LOVE it if they quit reporting all these tremblors and quakes. The fact is their frequency in itself is news no matter how insignificant some people think they are.
What I would like to see from the Cabin too is a story on the injection wells in the area. Who owns them, what volume of frac fluid is being put in them and how often. It would also be interesting to hear from some of the people that have to live next to the injection sites. Most of the info is available from ADEQ and AOGC but they aren't going out of their way to make it easy to find.
Keep reporting, we'll keep reading.

I am not saying that the
I am not saying that the frequency of the earthquakes is unimportant and shouldn't be investigated. When a definitive cause is discovered, whether it be to drilling or god just wanting to shake things up a little, that is news. In the meantime, saying that the earth barely quivered six times this week is not news. A journalist's time would be better spent elsewhere.
Earthquakes
I am really surprised that Tab is letting the LCD report all of these earthquakes. Outside of the Conway area, they are more newsworthy than the crime statistics. And scarier.
I even had my aunt who lives in Memphis, ask me about all of the quakes we have been having. She purchased a house here 3 years ago to move into when her husband retires but they are a little hesitant now with all these reports, and we all know Memphis is almost on top the San Madrid fault, where more than 4000 earthquakes have occurred since 1974. But, you dont see them in the news.
And these earthquakes are in the news almost everyday.
And apparently they arent news, because someone said "Well, we have always had them..."
So, the news should be why and what can do about it...Investigate that!!!!! And if there is nothing we can do, and its a normal activity, then it isnt news.
hmmm
"And if there is nothing we can do, and its a normal activity, then it isnt news."
We should ban earthquakes. Problem solved.
City ordinance
You'll note that no earthquakes have occurred in the city of Conway. We do have a specific ban on them here in most zonings of the city. I think they are permitted by conditional use in certain zones, though. I'll have to check and get back to you...
