Posted: June 24, 2010 - 8:52pm

Emily Gentles, 13, of Lake Hamilton Middle School in Pearcy, Ark., plays ‘On the American River’ by composer Alan Lee Silva on the flute at Dixie Band Camp. The University of Central Arkansas is currently hosting about 750 middle school band students from the South. The camp is one of the oldest in the United States, originating 75 years ago. According to Tim Cunningham, Dixie Band Camp board member and director of Conway School bands, UCA has hosted the camp since 1989.

One time..

Hey. One time at band camp...I took my flute and.... Oh never mind You've already heard this one. Just joking.
I used to work at UCA. (under construction always). The summer camps they have there for the kids are outstanding. It is a great program that brings young people from all over to meet and work together.
Band, Glee, Basketball, Special Olympics and so on and so on. If you ever have a chance to attend a performance or event involving one of there summer groups it would be well worth the time.
