Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield coming to Conway

 

Mark White, president and CEO of Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, announced Thursday the company will locate a data center in Conway.

Construction on the 18,000-square-foot center will start in mid-2010, he said. White said he wanted to dispel rumors about how large the project would be. It will be located in The Meadows Technology Park.

 

 

IC Corporation to consolidate operations; may cost 477 Conway jobs

 

IC Corporation issued a WARN Act to its employees Thursday.

Corporate Spokesman Roy Wiley said the company is consolidating its bus assembly operations. Up to 477 jobs may be affected, he said. Layoffs will not occur until the beginning of next year.

 

 

Baker hits campaign trail

 

State Sen. Gilbert Baker, R-Conway, took off from Conway’s Cantrell Field this morning en route to media appearances in Little Rock, Jonesboro, Texarkana, Fort Smith and Fayetteville as part of his campaign for the U.S. Senate seat occupied by incumbent Democrat Sen. Blanche Lincoln.

Baker will be speaking on health care reform and his opinion that government-administered health care will lead to “higher costs, reduced quality and limited patient choice.”
