Searcy woman dies after crash in Vilonia

VILONIA — A vehicle accident in Vilonia on Tuesday resulted in the death of a Searcy woman.

Officers with the Vilonia Police Department worked a one-vehicle accident at about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, which resulted in the death of Sherry Garrison, 52, of Searcy.

Chief Brad McNew said Garrison was driving alone in a GMC Envoy eastbound on U.S. Highway 64 between Conway and Vilonia (997 Main Street in Vilonia) when she apparently ran off the road on the right side.

“It appeared she over corrected and crossed over three lanes of traffic,” McNew said.

The vehicle then hit a gas riser and a parked vehicle, McNew said, as well as the porch of a residence where it came to rest.

“It didn’t turn over or anything,” McNew said, adding that the air bags did not deploy inside the vehicle.

No one else was injured in the incident.
