Miss Shelbi Renee Carpenter and Mr. Dustin Luke Van Pelt, both of Conway, were united in marriage at 5 p.m. on Dec. 30, 2012, in a double-ring ceremony at the Excellence Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The bride is the daughter of Coach David and Mrs. Teri Carpenter of Junction City, Ark. She is the granddaughter of the late Coach Ralph “Sporty” and Mrs. Sabra Carpenter, and the late Mr. Willis and Mrs. Patricia Chaney.
The groom is the son of Mr. Tony and Mrs. Tena Van Pelt of Conway. He is the grandson of Mr. Ernest Junior Dowdy and Mrs. Ann Van Pelt of Conway and the late Mrs. Norma Lee Rackley-Dowdy and the late Mr. John Edward “Jigs” Van Pelt, and the great-grandson of Mrs. Erma Lee Southerland-Rackley of Ida, Ark.
The bride was escorted to the ceremony by a horse driven carriage. The ceremony took place on the beach. The bride and groom exchanged vows under a bamboo arbor decorated with white satin and cotton fabric.
The bride wore a stunning deep plunging neckline of delicate satin full length gown with a halter top, an empire waist-line with a tiered layer bodice of champagne color.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of light and dark purple English roses and white freesia.
Following an extended stay in the Dominican Republic, the Van Pelt’s returned home. A wedding reception was held on Jan. 19th, where family and friends gathered at the Next Level Events, located in the Train Station in Little Rock. Upon entering the guests could observe an array of the couple’s wedding photographs and each guest was encouraged to place their name and any notes on a large letter “V”. The guest tables were covered with white linen table cloths and consisted of alternating fluted hurricane vases filled with floating candles and a variety of floral arrangements. The guests enjoyed wine and a large variety of heavy hors d’oeuvres. At the bride’s table was a four-tiered alternating strawberry and vanilla cake covered with buttercream frosting. The groom’s cake was a chocolate cake covered with a milk chocolate frosting with chocolate drizzle and decorated with a Lab/duck hunting theme.
Dustin is currently employed at Odyssey Hospice as a Hospice RN Case Manager and attending Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Ark. Shelbi is currently employed at Baptist Health Medical Center in the Coronary Care Unit and the Rapid Response Team. She is also studying at the University of Central Arkansas seeking a Master of Science in Nursing for Family Advanced Practice Nurse.
Mr. and Mrs. Dustin Luke Van Pelt are currently residing in Conway.
