Valentine’s Day 2014 was one of celebration at the Conway Senior Wellness & Activity Center where Ralph Sanders and Charlene Elrod were crowned as Valentine King and Queen.
The Center was festively decorated with hearts and other symbols of love, and many members wore red in celebration of the occasion.
They enjoyed a special meal, drawings for prizes, a photo booth and other activities. Each member in attendance also received a goodie bag filled with candies and treats.
That evening the King and Queen were honored at a Valentine dance featuring the Route 66 Band.
Ralph, the father of a son and daughter and proud grandfather of two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, retired as an optician from the VA Hospital in North Little Rock after 33 years and then worked 12 years at a local Walmart as an optician. At the center, he is captain of the bean bag baseball team. He has been a member of Pickles Gap Baptist Church for 50 years.
Charlene is retired from Baker Eye Institute and is a homemaker. She has five children, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is a regular participant in line dance class at the Center and is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
