Lasker 50th mock-wedding anniversary

The children and grandchildren of Billy and Ethel Lasker hosted a celebration honoring the couple.

It is not unusual to mark a couple’s anniversary, but this celebration differs because the honorees have been divorced since 1972. The event’s theme was “Fool’s Gold Anniversary” and was held on Jan. 31, 2014. The date was significant because it would have been the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary if they had remained married.

The celebration included dinner and dancing and was held at the Faulkner County Natural Resource Center. Family and friends were surprised with a mock-wedding with vows designed to reflect the honorees’ uncommon friendship and love.

The couple share five children and six grandchildren.
