Conway Garden Club

The Conway Garden Club met Jan. 7 at the home of Vernelle Crews. After a nice lunch of sandwiches, chilli and all the trimmings, we started our business meeting.

President Florene Phipps led us in the Collect. The minutes and the treasurer’s report were read.

We all worked together on the club report for the state of Arkansas, due in February.

We also reviewed our club scrapbooks, which received second place in the state awards for the last two years.

Vernelle Crews, our Historian does a great job.

The program “Daffodils” was given by Kay Mayes, a National and State Judge for Daffodils.

When we think of Daffodils we think of the color yellow, but they can be white, pink, orange and light red.

There are 13 divisions in the classification of Daffodils.

Jonquilla is one of these divisions.

There are also Petite Daffodils.

The National Daffodil Convention will be held in Little Rock at the Doubletree Hotel, March 27-29.

After our business meeting and program we adjourned to the dining room for dessert and coffee.

The February meeting will be at the Faulkner County Library, program “Healing Plants.” Hostess will be Vickie Repp and Co-hostess will be Norma Crass.
