Beta Sigma Phi Laureate Alpha Omega
Laureate Alpha Omega chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held their first fall meeting on Sept. 10, at the Trillium Park community room with 10 members present. Hostess Mary Williams served a variety of pizza and soft drinks prior to the business meeting.
President Vernelle Crews called the meeting to order and led the Opening Ritual. She announced that the chapter had received our three star certificate from International.
Sondra and Buddy Pugh were congratulated on celebrating their recent 50th wedding anniversary.
Janet Jones passed out new yearbook pages using the sun as our interpretation of this year‘s theme, “Light Up Your Life.”
The group decided to draw for secret sisters prior to each separate gift exchange this year. Drawing for the Unbirthday Party will be held at our next regular meeting on Sept. 24 at the home of Linda Alverson.
The social committee is making plans to entertain sister chapter Laureate Nu on Nov. 12th. The meeting will be held at Trillium and our theme will be “Light Up Arkansas.” Judy Schultz will be acting as interim social chairman. A list of social activities will be available for discussion at the next meeting.
It was announced that the Preferential Tea will be held on Oct. 22 at the Wesley Methodist Church fellowship hall. In lieu of door prizes, chapters will be asked to bring canned goods or other nonperishable food items for the Wesley Bread Basket. Xi Master chapter will host the event.
Members finalized the work schedule for ticket sales at the fair, our annual ways and means project, and parking passes were provided for the workers.
Mary Williams presented the program on lighthouses, showing a poster of the lighthouse on Sanibel Island, Fla., and gave some history about the lighthouse keepers and their families.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned with members repeating the Closing Ritual and Mizpah. The Sunshine gift was won by Sondra Pugh.
