Mrs. J.G. Cone was hostess to the Saturday Bridge Club at her home on Center Street Saturday afternoon. Fall roses were arranged in the living room, where games of bridge were played during the hours, with Mrs. Richard Steel winning the high score prize. A dainty salad menu with hot tea was served at the conclusion of the series of games.
Eighteen room representatives to the Conway Junior High School Student Council were elected last Friday.
They are as follows: Seventh grade - Todd Tupper, Jay Wasson, Melvin White, John Robert Ward, Phyllis Gilmore and Judy Koon; eighth grade — Dale Nutter, Mary Belle Owen, Jimmy Major, Johnny Tyler, Elaine Nooner and Bonnie Buffaloe; ninth grade — Paula Cato, Nancy Selig, Susan Tubbs, Joe Harriman, Sid Smith and Sue Holloway.
Hope Howell of Vilonia was crowned 1987-88 America’s Most Beautiful Miss at the America’s Most Beautiful Girls Pageant Sept. 19 in Searcy.
Miss Howell won a trophy , crown, banner, travel bag and payment of her entry to the America’s Most Beautiful Girls National Pageant 1988, planned in May at the Airport Hilton in Memphis, Tenn.
Julie Goodnight, co-owner of Ed’s Bakery, helped Janie Aitchison decide what dessert to sample at the Taste of Conway on Wednesday evening at the Conway Sports Center. Twenty-three local restaurants and caterers participated in the event, which was open to Conway Area Chamber of Commerce members and guests.
